Bus Driving – D Licence 

The course will take place during the morning & afternoon Monday – Thursday and on Friday mornings. 

Start Date: 15/11/21 

End Date: 04/02/22 

Duration: 12 weeks

Course Content

This course has been designed to provide business with personnel who are skilled as Class D licensed drivers of LPSV’s (Large public service vehicles) and Driver CPC certification. (Driver certificate of professional competence). 
The aim of the course is to provide the learners with the skills and related knowledge in the rules of the road, driving an LPSV, customer service, documentation, first aid, manual handling and fire safety, digital tachograph and technical standards and to develop their attitudes, personal effectiveness, and job-seeking skills which will enable them to obtain employment driving LPSV’s.

HGV – Heavy Goods Vehicle Driving Rigid

The course will take place during the morning & afternoon Monday – Thursday and on Friday mornings. 

Start Date: 01/11/21

Duration: 10 weeks 

Location: Castlebar, Mayo 

Course Content

The following certification is available on this training programme: 

  • RTITB Forklift Counterbalance Certificate 
  • RTITB Forklift Reach Certificate 
  • ADR Training – Hazard Chemical Training Certificate 
  • Certificate of Professional Competence – HGV Artic and HGV Rigid

On successful completion of the course and the related HGV driving tests, the learner will be well-positioned to apply for Heavy Goods Vehicle driver positions.

Also on successful completion of the RTITB Certificate in Forklift Counterbalance and Forklift Reach applicants will be certified and able to source employment as a forklift operator in the workplace.

HGV – Professional Driver Traineeship

The course will take place during the morning & afternoon Monday – Thursday. 

Start Date: 27/09/21 

End Date: 13/05/22 

Duration: 33 weeks 

Location: Colooney, Sligo 

Course Content

The aim of the course is to provide the learners with the skills and related knowledge in the rules of the road, driving a heavy goods vehicle – rigid and artic body, care and maintenance of the vehicle, loading and unloading the vehicle, customer care and documentation and to develop their attitudes, personal effectiveness, and job-seeking skills. 
This programme will enable the learners to obtain employment in driving rigid and artic body heavy goods vehicles.

Approved Driving Instructor Course

The course will take place during the morning & afternoon Monday – Friday. 

Start Date: 01/11/21 

End Date: 11/03/22 

Duration: 19 weeks 

Location: Sligo Training Centre 

Course Content

The aim of this programme is to prepare learners to become RSA Approved Driving Instructors by successfully completing all three stages of the qualification process. This process will include:
Stage 1 – Complete a theory test – multi-choice
Stage 2 – Will assess driving ability – Driving competence will be assessed through a longer, more comprehensive, driving test than that which applies to a learner driver. The test will last approximately one to one and a half hours depending on the category being applied for
and will cover 25 – 30 kilometres.
Stage 3 – Examines the ability of the ADI learner to deliver tuition/coaching to the novice driver relevant to the level of skill and experience of the driver. They will be examined on their practical instructing skills and abilities to structure each learning experience in the most effective manner possible.
